Please Allow Me . . .

. . .  Just this little pat on the back.

I avoid the limelight like the plague.  It makes me squirm and wiggle and hide my bright red face in my hands.

I’d rather go to the dentist to have a crown put on than be the center of attention, that’s how bad I am with the spotlight shining on me.

But, well, today I’ve been doing a little happy dance since 5:30 this morning when I checked my e-mail while my coffee was brewing, and found out that I’m one of the winners of a fall photo contest that the photo society I belong to held recently.

My photo, along with 13 other winners, will be displayed at our county fair later this month, as well as at the fair in the next county up from us.

The photos will also be displayed at local venues around NW Arkansas.

To view all the photos and the winning photo (and one of my very favorite animals in the world), click here,

scroll down the right-hand column till you see a polar bear,

click on his adorable little face and it will take you to the gallery.

I think this little ladybug really is bringing me good luck.

Okay, now time to hide my face and squirm.

    • I have a Nikon D7000 that my husband bought me last summer when he saw how serious I was beginning to get about photography. I used to have a Nikon D3000, which is a WONDERFUL starter DSLR, but I needed something with a little extra “oomph”. For the daisy shot here, I was using an 85mm f/3.5 macro lens, which is one of my go-to lenses. But my best advice is that you read and read and read the manual—I keep mine within reach and re-read it quite a bit. It’s amazing what these little machines can do, but it’s the person behind the camera that makes the photo. Cheers! ; )

      • Exactly! I’m glad it’s the photographer that makes the picture and not the camera alone :) I have a good eye for photo’s I think… But I just don’t have the money for a great camera, I did buy the latest iPad though which I use to take all the pictures on my blog. :) I think most of them turn out alright! Feel free to check them out! Thanks for letting me know what you use. I’ve been looking into camera equipment, but with everything that’s coming up I just won’t be able to buy one that’s worth it :P Oh well!

  1. “CONGRATULATIONS!” I knew you had it in you… you just didn’t have the confidence to know you had it in you! Someday, I will be able to say, I knew her before she became famous!

    • Thank you! The day I took this, I swore that I’d only spent 20 minutes out shooting the field full of flowers, but turned out that I’d spent 90 minutes! Love it when that happens! : )
