I’ve been looking through my daily photo journal this week, as well as my photo library and I came across some of my favorite photos from the past month (can you believe that it’s February FIRST, already?? I saw daffodils blooming yesterday during my run! Can’t believe this winter!). I wanted to share my top faves with you today.
But before I do, I want to thank
All.
Of.
You.
For the encouragement and cheerleader yells that you offered me in my last post. Those words mean the world to me, and I smiled at each and every comment I read.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Now, on to my favorite photos from January.
Our neighborhood street in the early, early
morning fog.
Detail of moss on a log out at Lake Lincoln, west of town.
It reminds me of how fairies might look at the world.
An 8-week-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever puppy being introduced to the water for the first time.
He didn’t care for it much.
Adult bald eagle at Lake Sequoyah, east of town.
I got a good, long scolding from her.
Same eagle, same day, same location.
I love how the sunlight seems to make her glow (also, is she flying sideways?).
During my father-in-law’s visit.
She’s wearing her PaPaw’s hat that he wears everywhere.
Great Blue Heron, Lake Lincoln.
He never did fly away, just enjoyed the sun hitting his back.
Our pine tree in the back yard after an early morning drizzle.
Kept me from doing housework for about an hour, always a good thing.
My bulletin board late at night that hangs above my desk.
I keep all my favorite little stickers, buttons, articles and ticket stubs tacked up here.
It’s my time capsule of sorts.
Exploding rain drops on our back patio.
We had torrential downpours this past Tuesday, full of high winds, thunder, lightening and tornadoes.
It was exciting to say the least.
Great Blue Heron flying over the dog park.
Grace in the skies.
Thank you again for your support, your visits and all your wonderful words.
Hope you have an adventure packed weekend full of laughter and fun.

Spectacular. All.
Thanks, Kelly!
Wow, makes you wonder what February will bring! Another month of beauty, I am sure of it :)
Thanks, Molly! ; )
Sigh…how to pick a favorite? They are all so beautiful. You have such an eye.
Thank you, Cathy.
These are amazing. Love the lamp posts!
I really liked that one, too. I had just taken my son to school, and was standing in my driveway in my winter coat, shorts and house slippers, shooting away at 7 in the morning. I think I got a lot of crazy looks from neighbors . . . ; )
These are excellent! Not sure which is my favorite!
Thank you, Elizabeth!
Love these photos. Looks like January was a beautiful month! I wish I had such awe-inspiring sites to photograph!
Both lakes that I went to were only about 10-20 minutes drive from our house. I usually pick places that are no more than an hour’s drive from home so that I can be back in plenty of time to pick up our son from school. Depending on the place and how much “action” is happening, I’ve cut it pretty close a few times. ; ) Can’t wait for Spring Break next month when I can go further a-field and go to other places that I’ve seen on local photographer’s websites. : ) You know what you could do? Look up places (Mr. Google and I are practically on a first name basis!) and see what lakes and parks are near by, then take off some weekend and go exploring. It’s a lot of fun; plus, you get to get all dirty and muddy, just like a kid!
I’ve been wanting to do something like that for quite a while now. I’ve gone to a few local spots, with a few nice photos as results, but I think I need to explore a bit further out. Weather can be rather unpredicable in New England, so that’s always a factor.

I’ve been following the fabulous Ms. Austin for a while now – but certainly not long enough. There isn’t a photo she posts that I don’t take a moment to stare longingly at when I spot it on my Reader page. This Favorites post is to pine for. My favorite? The very last snap. It’s like a story waiting to happen – a drama, no less. Thanks so much to Kate Austin over at These Are The Days for sharing her fabulous (fabulous) work!
