Friday To Friday

My favorite photos of the past seven days (with a bit of background thrown in), beginning with Friday, Feb. 1.

Friday

DSC_2868Daffodils starting to re-appear all over town. They make me happy.

Saturday

DSC_2964The late afternoon sunshine is staying around longer into the evenings, making our little kitchen glow.

Superbowl Sunday

DSC_3031Meghan came home for the game, but still had international relations homework to finish. But she got it done in time for the game. We all had fun that night.

Monday

Tuesday

DSC_3275Coming home from Sam’s Club, I spotted my buddy, the red-tailed hawk. I really wish he’d sit long enough for me to take his portrait.

Wednesday

DSC_3442We had sprinkles at sunset.

Thursday.

Yes, Thursday. I did not pick up my camera all day that day. Instead, I had to go to the doctor’s office about some knee pain I’ve been having. Then I had to pick up Joey from his school’s nurse’s office and fill a prescription for the ear infection he had come down with. And of course, I had to sit on the couch next to him while he cuddled under blankets, watching “The Big Bang Theory” , to make him feel better, y’know. And then it poured down rain. And I had to wash the fresh fruit I had bought at Sam’s while I was waiting for his medicine to be ready.

So, yeah.  No Thursday photo.

Friday

DSC_3642Eagle Watch Nature Preserve. Crowded with humans, but skies empty save for this beautiful red-tailed hawk.

    • Thanks, Tina. That means a lot. It’s exactly what I’m trying to achieve with my photography, I want to show people the world and all the magic in it the way I see it. : )

    • Thank you. I think that prescription is beginning to kick in finally. Hope you’re doing okay with all that snow. I can’t wait to see the photos you take! Stay warm.

  1. These are all beautiful, but my personal favorite is the daffodils. :) I love those, but we’re still waiting for them here – in the meantime we’re replacing them with snow, lots and lots of snow… Thanks for sharing these to hold us through the blizzard! :)

    • I agree! I’m so close to having a couple of my own bloom in my back gardens. I kinda want them to bloom, but I also know that we’re still in the midst of winter and anything can happen. : )

    • Well, it looks like there may actually be something wrong with it. I’m going to an orthopedist on the 18th for x-rays and his opinion, but it looks like either a torn ligament or something has torn off and is floating around the knee cap and the joint (where the most of the pain is right now). My doctor about fell off her stool when she began examining my knee and heard all the snap, crackle, pop! sounds coming from it: “You’re too young to have a knee that sounds like this!” Made me laugh. : )

  2. Oh my goodness, daffodils in February! What a sight! Especially for those of us seeing nothing but white right now, lol! Less than a year from now, I could have a photo of a correctly-spelled-Meghan home from college too. I love seeing yours – she’s lovely. Those red-tailed hawks do make wonderful photo subjects. Yours are gorgeous. Just once, I had one sit still long enough on a low enough branch for a half-way decent portrait. I’ll see if I can find it for you.

    • Can you believe that I said the SAME thing to my husband just last night when we were going out to get dinner? Can you believe that our girls will be home in such a short time? I can’t wait!

How’s all that snow? Is it still snowing? Do you still have power? Be careful, but also be sure to have fun and play in it, too.

  3. Kate, I have been here several times since you’ve changed your blog design, and each time I forget to tell you how much I love it, so…
It is just fantastic!! Simple, clean, perfect!

What a wonderful series of photographs. I think my favorite is the one of Meghan. You can almost feel just how hard she is working.

I hope you are having a great weekend!
