One last little taste of our 4th of July getaway to Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs to visit David’s dad.
Yes, that’s David on the jet ski towing Meghan, Joey and me around the little cove that we swim in, and yes, that is me laughing insanely in the background.
The kids and I are easily entertained, apparently.

All right, let’s try another go at putting up a video.
This time it features Langley, the Wonder Dog. Joey and I loaded up the dog, packed the GoPro camera, my D7000, a couple of water bottles and hit our local lake this past Friday (Meghan was busy watching “Rock of Ages” with her best friend, otherwise we would’ve dragged her out to the lake with us).
Joey cracks me up, he really does. He and I spent all afternoon talking video making and photography, Aperture 3 and MicroSoft Windows video editing. Neither one of us fully understood what the other was babbling on about (at least I didn’t), but it was a joy to me to watch his face come alive when he talked about his hobby. He has a great eye for photography, but he insists that he just doesn’t “get” it.
That’s okay, I don’t “get” video making, so that makes us even, I suppose. And just the fact that neither one of us “gets” what the other one loves so much is just fine in my book.
So without further ado, let’s see if this video will work.

While I’ve been busy photographing Life around me, Joey has been busy recording Life around him.
The following is a 12-year-old‘s view of Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, AR. from the back of a jet ski. Joey is riding backwards with his mighty GoPro camera strapped to his chest.
He edited the video, added music to fit the scenes, and worked his magic that he has taught himself these past few weeks since school got out.
He may not “get” photography (although he has quite a good eye, as only a proud momma can say), but he’s all over videography.

Update:
Sorry for all the confusion about the video not loading correctly and for the error message. We figured out why it wasn’t working: due to Joey using music by the Blue Man Group, which is under copyright through Warner Music Group, the video wouldn’t load properly. He’s going to take the music off tomorrow, and I will post it again later this weekend. Once again, sorry about all the confusion, and thank you for your patience!
